Palmetto Middle School officially opened its new computer lab with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 10th, 2016. Dubbed the Pinecrest Business Association Computer Lab, the workroom is outfitted with 35 new computers that were purchased with funds donated by members of the Pinecrest Business Association (PBA) totaling $19,950.
The fundraising drive was led by Panter, Panter & Sampedro, which donated more than 10 computers to the lab. “In today’s world, technology and education go together more than ever. It’s our duty as a local business to support that,” says Mitchell Panter, managing partner of Panter, Panter & Sampedro. “After seeing our lab in person, our firm committed to going one step further and will purchase new televisions and additional technology to make sure that these kids have the tools that they need to get the most out of their education.”
Intellaclaim Public Adjusters was proud to join other businesses in contributing to the computer lab’s success, including Preemo, Sunstate Bank, Clarin Eye Care, Scheckner & Hetenyi PL, Station America, Shula Burger, Miss Ink LLC, Brit Olom Tours, Elements Massage, Debowsky Design Group, the Parenting Plan, Marvin P. Stein CPA and Simon & Simon P.A.
“As I was thinking about all the great things that are continuously occurring at Palmetto Middle School, I recalled the old Yoruban proverb that wisely states, ‘It takes a whole village to raise a child.’ Our own village of Pinecrest is a living example of that very proverb,” says principal Jesus Gonzalez. “Thanks to our parents, community and stakeholders, our students are able to experience successes that would otherwise not be afforded to them.”
